YMCA Cup 2009

Over this past weekend, Blade Club fencers took part in the fencing competition organized by the YMCA of Singapore. There were 6 competitions: the Under-10 Girls & Boys Mixed Foil, the Under-12 Boys and Under-12 Girls, the Under-14 Boys and Under-14 Girls, and the Veteran and Novices Epee Men's and Women's Mixed Competition. Although we don't usually see mixed competitions in fencing, the organizers decided to put males and females together to ensure we had a good number of participants and fencing. For male versus female match-ups, the standing rule was that female fencers would get a point (usually 1 or 2 depending on stage of the competition) advantage. Blade Club had a strong showing and we congratulate all our winners!
