Our young fencers competed in the Singapore Minime (September 2023), the 2nd Minime competition festival of the year. It was a intense competition with many fencers at the OCBC Arena Hall 1; while some of the Blade fencers were unfortunately unable to repeat their medal results in their events, there were a number of repeat winners and other athletes who performed above and beyond to clinch excellent results.
All told, we sent a total of over 50 fencers to the competition. A few of our fencers even fenced (and medaled in) more than one event; Summer Koh participated in no less than seven events over the 4 days of competitions, winning 5 medals (including 2 golds and a silver) in total. Athena Chen participated and medaled in both Foil and Epee, while 9-year-old Ethan Zhang won his age group (U10) and came 3rd in the next higher age group (U12). We applaud our fencers for their tenacity and resilience!
